What inclusive photography looks like

This sweet family was such a joy to have in front of my lens!

Throughout my own journey and navigation of life with a baby that has special needs, it became clear to me that hiring a photographer for photos of my baby didn't seem easy. I found myself being afraid of judgement or worried that my baby wouldn't get the best attention or care for his photos because he was different.

This experience and feelings brought me to the realization that I needed to do something about this. I needed to be that safe place for parents of children with special needs. Everyone deserves to be seen. Everyone deserves to have beautiful photos of their family. And nobody deserves to feel less than or that they weren't treated fairly because of their differences.

Hi, my name is

Jessica

I am your lifestyle

storyteller and safe place

This mama reached out after being referred to me by a member of a care team for early intervention that our children had in common. I was running a model call looking for more families with kiddos who have special needs. She reached out to snag that session for her sweet daughter who has down syndrome, her baby brother, and of course their parents.

Through the planning stages we were in touch through email going over what kinds of things her kiddos find interesting and if there were any limitations on what they can do or accessibility concerns to keep in mind when scouting for a location.

We spent time going over outfits, color schemes, and different things I could do to help make the session a success.

Her sweet little girl was not walking independently yet, so that helped me choose my poses and prompts to use through the session.

Their session went so well and their images are beautiful!

I feel so fortunate to have been placed in this position to be able to understand, make feel seen, validate, and make getting photos of your family easier and more relaxed.
